Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
